What we collect

• Email address, name, and password (hashed) when you create an account
• Optional profile information you choose to add
• IP address and user agent for security and abuse prevention
• Chat messages, stored encrypted
• Anonymous usage analytics via Umami — no cookies, no personal data, respects Do Not Track

Why we collect it

We process your data to provide the service (contract) and to keep it secure and improve it (legitimate interest). We don't use your data for advertising or profiling.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. That's it. No tracking cookies, no third-party cookies, no cookie banner needed.

Who sees your data

We use a small number of services to run ChatHPT: an email delivery service for authentication emails, file storage for avatars, and real-time messaging infrastructure. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on EU servers hosted by Hetzner in Germany.

How long we keep it

• Account data — while you have an account
• Sessions — 30 days
• Messages — while your account exists
• If you delete your account, your messages are anonymized (your name is removed) but the conversation history is preserved for other participants

Your rights

You can access, correct, delete, object to processing, or export your data. You can delete your account in Settings, or email us at [email protected] and we'll sort it out. When you delete your account, your personal data (name, email, avatar) is permanently removed. Your messages are anonymized rather than deleted, so other participants keep their conversation history.

We may update this page from time to time. No sneaky stuff — if anything meaningful changes, we'll make it clear.
